Naming Your New Puppy!

Happy Monday everyone! Oh, and I almost forgot, it was Sydneys First birthday yesterday! In honor of Syds first birthday I thought that I would do a post on naming a puppy! Naming your new dog can be very hard and a long process. I will write some posts on how we named all of our other dogs so be on the look out for those!

When we got Syd we actually did not know if we were going to come home with a new puppy or not.  The decision to go and look was very of the moment.  In the car we stated to brainstorm names for a boy dog or a girl.  We all decided we wanted a girl dog so we started to look back at the girl names we had chosen.  We eventually decided on the name Sydney.  Why Sydney? Well my sister had lived over there for an internship one semester in school.  We all thought it would be fun to name our new puppy after the city.

Now say you don’t really know what names are good names for your new dog.  Here are some tips for naming your new best friend!

  1. Meet the dog.  Naming can be hard especially when you don’t really know the dog.  Say you going to buy a Pit-bull and decide to name it Rex before meeting the dog.  Once you meet the dog it may be too kind to call it such an aggressive name. Meet the dog and get to know its personality first
  2.   If the dog already has a name keep it!  Yay! you don’t have to ponder what you will name your new dog since they already have one.  The hard work is already done for you.  Now if you would like to change your name you absolutely can.
  3. Look up a name. Say you don’t have any idea what to call your dog and you’re stressing about it.  There are a ton of suggestion sites out there!  Find some names you like and narrow it down! The best part? You don’t have to make one up!

Here are ten of my favorite dog names:

  • Buddy
  • Zoey
  • Daisy
  • Rex
  • Max
  • Tucker
  • Ike
  • Bella
  • Jake
  • Rocky

I hope this helped you and leave a comment below telling me what you named your dog!
