This is a post that has been coming for a long time now. First off I don’t want anyone to think I’m being mean when i say no to a F4F, its simply because I never liked the idea of being “forced” to follow someone you normally wouldn’t follow. To me I think you have to work hard to get true followers on any social media and it’s hard! I began my instagram to show the world my dog that i loved so much before she died. I started it so that i could remember her when she died and if people came along my little account and wanted to follow her it made my day. When I think of a follow for follow its for numbers only, not true people you grow to “know” and that they look for your pictures or posts then comment something nice. Also i think its a little bit of a scam. Why? well as soon as you click the follow button they get a notification, then you can unfollow them with out them getting a notification about it. Its unfair and mean. When i constantly see people liking my posts or commenting I check them out and usually follow them so that I can give them the same love they showed my account. Its hard to get good followers and it can take time! My friend who is husky sisters on instagram hit 1,000 followers before we even knew what was happening she has been in magazines etc and i am so happy for her! but with me i’ve been at it for a year and only have over 400 and thats not a bad thing! you know why? because instead of wanting numbers i have people who truly love my page. everyone goes down a different path and some get followers more easily than others. My motto is do it because it makes you happy no matter if you have one follower or 2,000 followers. If you build it they will come. yes i went there. Be patient and appreciate what your page is about.
Happy Monday everyone! Oh, and I almost forgot, it was Sydneys First birthday yesterday! In honor of Syds first birthday I thought that I would do a post on naming a puppy! Naming your new dog can be very hard and a long process. I will write some posts on how we named all of our other dogs so be on the look out for those!
When we got Syd we actually did not know if we were going to come home with a new puppy or not. The decision to go and look was very of the moment. In the car we stated to brainstorm names for a boy dog or a girl. We all decided we wanted a girl dog so we started to look back at the girl names we had chosen. We eventually decided on the name Sydney. Why Sydney? Well my sister had lived over there for an internship one semester in school. We all thought it would be fun to name our new puppy after the city.
Now say you don’t really know what names are good names for your new dog. Here are some tips for naming your new best friend!
- Meet the dog. Naming can be hard especially when you don’t really know the dog. Say you going to buy a Pit-bull and decide to name it Rex before meeting the dog. Once you meet the dog it may be too kind to call it such an aggressive name. Meet the dog and get to know its personality first
- If the dog already has a name keep it! Yay! you don’t have to ponder what you will name your new dog since they already have one. The hard work is already done for you. Now if you would like to change your name you absolutely can.
- Look up a name. Say you don’t have any idea what to call your dog and you’re stressing about it. There are a ton of suggestion sites out there! Find some names you like and narrow it down! The best part? You don’t have to make one up!
Here are ten of my favorite dog names:
I hope this helped you and leave a comment below telling me what you named your dog!
I am very happy to be able to share pictures of my dogs with the world and let people who care/ follow me know whats going on with them. Along with that I can also help other dogs in need of homes, lost dogs, etc. but it has come to my attention that not all dog accounts may be truthful. You have probably heard of telemarketers and online scams. These people are very smart and know what people love the most and usually won’t think twice about donating to. One of the topics is dogs. We see a dog in need and we instantly jump to help it. I have seen a couple of sketchy accounts asking for money for a dogs surgery or something like that and as I was looking at the comments I had a feeling that it wasn’t realistic and just out for money.
I just wanted to say before you share any information about yourself or your money to please make sure that it is a legit organization or a true person who has that animal. Also you never HAVE to give money to any of these accounts. You can just re-post for someone who wants to donate.
Now here is some information on dog scams:
WHAT IS A DOG SCAM?
A dog scam is usually when you see a post about a dog in trouble. For example it needs an operation because it has some illness or handicap. They will then ask you to donate to the cause.
How to avoid being scammed:
You want to always make sure that the post or dog is a legitimate thing. Make sure its an organization that is trustworthy with your money. Contact the owner and make sure they actually own this dog or pet.
I hope you all enjoyed this post! Ill see you soon!
Having new puppies is fun until you realize just how much time, effort, and training they take. When we got Sydney and Winnie we enrolled them in puppy classes at our local vets office. The classes helped a ton and the trainer suggested a spray bottle of water for saying ‘bad dog’. Instead of doing this we found a collar that doesn’t shock or hurt the dog. We found one that sprays them instead. The collar is by the company Pet Safe and is called spray-commander Remote trainer. It has a remote with three different levels.
The first button is just a beep warning to the dog to stop. They will hear it and know if they don’t stop barking, jumping, growling, etc they will get sprayed. The second button is a short spray. The third is a long spray to the dog. This has helped with the puppies bad habits and it isn’t harmful to them either which is a great thing!
Here is what the collar looks like:
I hope you all enjoyed this post and that it helped! if you have any questions be sure to leave a comment here or on my instagram!
Hey everyone! Today I thought it would be fun to share a little history on how we ended up with Zoey. I was in around first grade when we got her. Our old dog Dixie had died and we were without a dog. I headed to a birthday party and my mom and sister headed to Pets-mart.
In the parking lot of petsmart mom told my sister “We are only looking, not buying today.” My sister said okay and they went on in to see the dogs. They came across Zoey who was around six months old. They both loved her, but mom said no and they moved ahead to see the other dogs. When they moved on another family stepped up and looked at Zoey. The family looked very attached to her and looked like they were going to buy her.
“Go over there and act like we bought her.” My mom said to my sister.
My sister happy as can be did just that. the family moved on and we ended up with a new dog! My sister burst into the party I was at and screamed that we got a new dog! My sister and I were so happy! we didn’t have her yet, we were getting her the next day or so.
The day we got her it was April fools day and my dad and brother were out on a camping trip and had no idea that we had bought a new dog. We went to go pick them up at the school and my mom warned us not to tell them straight away because they were probably tired. Being the child my sister was, she ran right up to my dad and yelled that we had gotten a dog. My dad started to laugh because he didn’t believe it. After all it was April fools day.
We told them it wasn’t a joke and when they got home we let Zoey out and they were so surprised that we were serious! My mom and dad stayed up and talked about keeping her after they had thought we had gone to bed, but me and my sister were at the top of the steps.
They decided that we could keep her and here we are! Many years later and with one of the best dogs ever!
I hope you liked this little story!
